Our Story
Three decades of pioneering health education
Founded in 1991 by Dr. Roberto P. Treviño, SAHRC was established to address rising childhood chronic diseases and health disparities in underserved communities. Incorporated as a nonprofit in 1995, we created our flagship Bienestar/NEEMA program in 1997 through collaboration with educators, doctors, and families. In 2004, the Texas Education Agency approved Bienestar/NEEMA as an official coordinated school health program. Our work has been validated through NIH-funded research and continues to evolve through digital innovation and expanded reach.

Looking Ahead
SAHRC remains committed to expanding our reach across the United States and Mexico, bringing evidence-based health education to more children, families, and communities.
We continue to innovate in digital health education delivery, program evaluation methodologies, and educational technology integration—always guided by rigorous research and a commitment to health equity.
Our next chapter builds on a strong foundation as we work toward a future where all children have the knowledge, skills, and support they need to lead healthy, thriving lives.
