NATIONAL DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM (DPP)
The Social and Health Research Center (SAHRC) is certified to teach the National DPP. This program was created to address the increasing number of individuals developing prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, the National DDP has created a partnership between the SAHRC and the CDC offering evidence-based, cost-effective interventions that help people live healthier lives and prevent type 2 diabetes.
The SAHRC offers this adult Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-recognized lifestyle change program as part of their chronic disease prevention that focuses on healthy eating, physical activity, and prevention of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Evidence shows that people with prediabetes who take part in a structured lifestyle change program can cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% (71% for people over 60 years old).”
