Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day?
One of the most controversial topics is whether or not breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We say it is! We have an internal engine called metabolism. This engine burns excess fuel so it doesn’t accumulate around the waist. Two switches that make the engine burn higher levels of fats and sugars in our diet are exercise and breakfast. A high fiber breakfast can accelerate the metabolism
engine in the morning.
Let me tell you another reason why breakfast is important. As adults we are supposed to average at least 8 hours of sleep a night. If I ate dinner around 6:30 or 7:00 pm, fell asleep around 10 pm, and woke up around 6 am for work, I have now gone about 12 hrs. of fasting!! 12 hours of not putting nutrients in my body. Now imagine if you skipped breakfast!!! Or just grabbed a cup of coffee! You’re literally starving your body and forcing it to starve itself until your next snack which usually is not a healthy one or wait until lunch. By not eating breakfast you slow down your metabolism and in case you are wondering what is metabolism, it is that fat burning engine in your body that is controlled by your brain part called the hypothalamus.
Soooo back to the question is breakfast important? The answer is simply YES!!!!
